Retired. Sold for scrap.
Description: 29ft tall, aluminium frame for 10 porters, ram for raising it. Hands and Face from Fibre glass, Chest and arms initially from basket work, latterly fibre glass. Clothes were a rag jacket, skirt and sash from Ballooon material. Hair and beard from unraveled rope. Carried sword made of fibre glass and a Morning Star. Originally had guide ropes, but then stopped using them.
Is there is a folktale connected to your Giant or Beast? GogMagog – one of the Giants of Albion when Brutus of Troy arrived. Brutus slaughtered the giants , withone last Battle with Corineus, strongest Trojan. Some say GogMagog lept from the cliff in to the Sea. Others said GogMagog swore an oath to Brutus to protect him and his kin. gogmagog and Corineus marched as brothers, and when arriving at the place we know as London , and Brutus established his capital, both GogMagog and Corinueus were made Guardians of London. Thru the decades they were carried as basket ware giants in all the celebrations, and they were banned by Henry VIII for fear of sedition. Placed at Guildhall for protection they were used in Elizabeths time, and restoration of Charles 2. When the great fire of london engulfed the Guildhall, they burned, Sir Chritopher Wren rebuilt them as static statures and call ed them Gog and Magog. Who Carries the Giant / Inhabits the Beast, or Is It a Shared Role? Carried by 10 people at a time- at least two crews. In side is the giant master, and out side is the giant guide. The latter two communicate by hand signals on themovement of the giants, Inside giant master gives instructions to porters- stop, drop, lift, move., and “front-brace, back-partial lift” so that he bowed to dignitaries etc
Any tales of outings/visits/strange and wonderful occurrences or special memories that should go down in History Many. Currently writing a book. But lets say, after he was kidnapped and almost burned in a scrap dealers yard, he was never the same again.
How is it stored? His parts are scattered to the wind. The sword is at the Giant Museum in Ath, Belgium
