Description: Made in Darkwood, near Slaithwaite by, amongst others, Anne & Dave Ellis, who kindly passed guardianship on to me. His head is fibreglass and mop heads, clothes nylon velvet, frame aluminium. He is a backpack type carry, so not at all like continental giants but is free standing.
Is there is a folktale connected to your Giant or Beast? Nathandriel is a romano-celtic warrior, representing himself.
What Was the First Event the Giant / Beast Attended? Covent Garden 1984 to meet Gogmagog.
Who Carries the Giant / Inhabits the Beast, or Is It a Shared Role? Nathandriel can be carried by any competent giant porter, at my discretion. He has to have at least one guide – more if crowds are expected. He will happily dance, providing someone plays a tune and the ground is mostly flat.
Any tales of outings/visits/strange and wonderful occurrences or special memories that should go down in History Nathandriel is unusual in that he goes places other giants dont. In the past he has been presented to royalty (in Belgium) he has made a boat trip, travelled on an escalator, been to Matadepera for the festival of giants in 1992. He has met some of the cast of Robin of Sherwood and is a regular star of Hastings Traditional Jack in the Green, so much so than uninformed licals think he is a Hastings giant!
