Description: Wotholga is one of The Last Giants of Kernow, based on the book by Stephen Polglase. He was made by The Lost Giants for the Godolphin Lantern Parade, with help from the children of Godolphin School. He’s a backpack giant with an aluminium frame. His head is made of willow and paper, with a fine head of vine hair. He wears a ragged tunic and is bejewelled with a very special tin necklace engraved by local school children.
The Last Giants of Kernow is a modern Cornish folktale by author Stephen Polglase. It tells the love story of two giants, Wotholga and Tregona, who shaped the landscapes of West Cornwall’s Godolphin and Tregonning Hills. The tale intertwines Cornish myth with the region’s ancient tin-mining heritage.

Are there any tales of outings, visits, strange and wonderful occurrences, or special memories that should go down in history? Wotholga underwent significant repair work in 2026 as a result of his poor hands being eaten by rats whilst in storage — an age-old problem for giants.
How is it stored? Currently sleeping in a shed in Godolphin Cross, alonside his Giant Lady love Tregona.
What can you tell us about how it is carried and by who? Wotholga has been carried by the same giant porter, year in year out since his first appearance.
