Description: Maggie in the Green was created by The Lost Giants for The Newt in Somerset as part of their Great Garden Show in 2026. She is a backpack giant with an aluminium internal structure, and a basketry framework and hoop skirt. From this we hung netting and material to which fresh flowers and foliage were added on the day of the procession.
Maggie is inspired by the Jack in the Green tradition, celebrating the turning of the seasons and the arrival of summer. She pays homage to Margaret Hobhouse, whose vision and dedication helped shape the gardens at The Newt into the extraordinary place they are today.
