Godolphin Lantern Parade

By tapping into the ancient earthy magic of tin, we awakened the Giant Wotholga to return home to Godolphin for one magical night!

What a moment as hundreds gathered, their lanterns aglow, to conjure the giant character from Steve Polglase’s tale. Then coming together to dance, play, and stir up a little mischief across the Godolphin Estate, through the woods, over hills, and around the village.

Weaving together mining hertage and folklore we created over 100 tin punch lanterns with Godolphin Primary School and Community. Honouring the resilience and craftsmanship of generations of this community that once relied on this metal for their livelihoods and believing in its magic to call back the Giant of Godolphin Hill!

Special thanks to NT Godolphin for hosting, to Feast Cornwall for funding it and to Godolphin Arts and Heritage for making it all happen.
